How to write a real estate agent bio (with templates)
Buyers read your bio before they call. Here is what it should say, what to leave out, and three templates for a new agent, an experienced agent and a team.
In this guide
- Say where you work, for how long, how you work and one thing about you
- Use numbers only when they are true
- On a website, 80 to 150 words is enough
- Copy a template for a new agent, an experienced agent or a team
- In MyHome, the bio sits on the agent's page, next to their listings and reviews
A real estate agent bio is the short text that tells buyers and owners who you are and why to call you. It should name your area, your years there and how you work, plus one human detail. Add the homes you have sold only if the number is true.
People often read a bio after they have seen a home they like. Below are the five parts of a good bio, three templates to copy, and where the bio works hardest on your real estate website.
What a real estate agent bio should say
Buyers and owners ask the same questions about an agent. Answer them in this order.
- Where you work. The towns or neighborhoods you know best.
- How long. Years in the area count as much as years in the job.
- What you have done. Homes sold or rented, only if the numbers are true.
- How you work. What a client can expect from you.
- Who you are. One true detail about you as a person.
Open with the area you know
Many bios start with "I am passionate about real estate." Every agent could say that, so it tells the reader nothing. Start with the place instead, such as "I help families buy and sell homes in Northside."
Name the neighborhood, not only the city, because buyers type those names into Google. Our guide to real estate SEO shows how agencies get found for them.
Use numbers only when they are true
Numbers build trust, but only true ones. Write "40 homes sold since 2019" only if your records show it. If you are new, leave numbers out and write about the area instead.
Say how you work, in plain words
This is what sets you apart from the agent next door. Name one or two things a client really gets, such as a reply the same day. Promise only what you already do.
Add one human detail
One true detail makes you a person, not a sales pitch. Pick one that links you to the area or to your clients.
- Where you grew up or live today
- A local team, club or charity you help
- The languages you speak with clients
- Your work before real estate
Agent bio examples, from vague to clear
| Instead of | Write |
|---|---|
| I am passionate about real estate. | I help families buy and sell homes in Northside. |
| I have years of experience. | I have sold homes in Northside since 2014. |
| I am a top agent. | I helped 31 families move last year. |
| I provide excellent service. | I send every client a short update each Friday. |
| I love my community. | I coach a kids' soccer team in Lakeview. |
How long your bio should be, and what to leave out
On a website, 80 to 150 words is enough for the five parts. Buyers often read it on a phone, between two listings. Your listings and reviews can say the rest.
End with one next step, such as a call or a message about a listing. Cut anything that does not help a reader decide to call.
- Words every agent uses, such as passionate, dedicated or top
- Private details you would not share at a first meeting
- Your whole career, from the first job
- Promises about what a home will sell for
Three real estate agent bio templates
Each template below follows the five parts. Replace the words in brackets and cut any sentence that is not true for you. For your listings, our property listing description templates use the same rules.
For a new agent
For an agent with no sales yet, who knows the area well.
Replace the words in brackets. Keep it under 150 words.
For an experienced agent
For an agent with years of sales they can show.
Use only numbers your records show. If a number is small, leave it out.
For a team or an agency
For the top of a team page, in the third person.
Replace the words in brackets. Keep it under 150 words.
A real estate agent profile on your own website
A real estate agent profile on a big portal sits among hundreds of others. On your own website, the bio sits next to your listings and reviews, the proof that backs it up.
In MyHome, every agent gets a page with a photo, a short bio, a star rating, their listings and their reviews. Buyers can call the agent, message them on WhatsApp or email them from the same page.
The agent also appears on every listing. MyHome puts an agent box with the photo, role and phone on each listing, next to a short contact form. Our guide to what a property listing page needs covers the rest of that page.
Inquiries from that form arrive by email, and the email can carry the listing's title, link and ID. The guide Contact Form 7 – special mail tags shows how.

An agency with several agents needs a team page too. It shows everyone at once, so buyers can find the agent for their area.
MyHome has a team page that puts the whole team on one page, with the owner up front. On the demo, the owner's block has a short statement and contact details. See the team page on the demo.
Use the team template above at the top of that page. Each agent's own bio stays on their own page, next to their listings.
Before you publish your bio
- Read it out loud, and cut what you would not say to a client
- Check every number against your records
- Use one recent photo on your website, the portals and your social profiles
- Ask a colleague whether it sounds like you
- Update it once a year, or when your area or numbers change
