Overview of Elementor Page Builder: editing pages, layouts, and templates

Find your way around Elementor in Listivo: which link opens the editor for a page, how a layout combines header, content and footer, and where the listing, search, user and blog templates live.

1 minute read

Elementor is the core plugin for the Listivo theme, and it lets you modify any page on your website. If you haven't used Elementor before, we recommend watching this two-minute getting started video, then trying the editor yourself by dragging and dropping elements to create or modify your first page.

A two-minute introduction to the Elementor editor.

Editing the homepage and any other page

This covers the homepage as well as pages such as Contact us and About us. Visit the page and click this link:

The WordPress admin bar with the "Edit with Elementor" dropdown open, listing White Menu Layout (Post), Site Settings (Site) and Theme Builder (Site); an arrow points to Edit with Elementor.

If you cannot see the link in the top admin bar, you can also reach the editor this way:

The Pages list in WordPress admin with Pages and All Pages highlighted in the sidebar; the Home row is hovered and an arrow points to its "Edit with Elementor" row action.

You will be redirected to Elementor Page Builder, where you can edit every element on the page — the search form, for instance.

The layout system

Listivo has a layout system. A layout wraps every page:

Layout = header + <page-content> + footer

You can edit layouts this way:

The same admin-bar dropdown, this time with the arrow pointing to the White Menu Layout entry instead of to Edit with Elementor.
A layout open in Elementor: the structure panel on the left, and a canvas showing the header, a "Template Content" placeholder standing in for the page content, and the footer with Useful Links, Categories and Newest Listings.

You can also select a layout from the WordPress admin panel:

Listivo Panel > Templates with the Layout tab selected, listing Layout Light and Layout; arrows point to the Layout tab and to the Edit button of the selected Layout.

Editing the theme templates

These templates can also be edited in Elementor:

  • Listing Page Template
  • Search Results Page (Listings)
  • User Page Template
  • Blog Single Page
  • Blog Page Template

You can do it this way:

Listivo Panel > Templates with the whole tab row highlighted — Layout, Ad Page, Search Results Page, Print Ad, User Page, Blog Post, Blog. The User Page tab is open, showing a single User template, with an arrow pointing to its Edit button.
