Adding Custom Fields to Search Results and Single Listing Pages

Creating a custom field in MyHome does not put it on your site. This guide shows where to place a new field in the Search Results and Listing Page templates so visitors can actually see it and search by it.

1 minute read

Newly added fields do not automatically appear on your Single Listing page or Search page. You have to place them in the templates yourself, once for search and once for the listing page.

Add the field to the search results page

  1. 1 Open the search template

Go to MyHome Panel > Templates > Search Results Page and edit the active template.

The Templates screen in MyHome Panel with the Search Results Page tab open and arrows pointing to the Edit button beside the active "Sidebar Search" template.
  2. 2 Choose where the field goes

Edit the Search widget and pick the area the new field should sit in. The Search Vertical widget, for example, offers two: Primary Fields (horizontal) and Sidebar Fields (vertical).

Elementor editing the Search Vertical widget: the Primary fields and Sidebar fields sections are open in the left panel, listing Offer Type, Property Type, Price and Rent Price, with the MyHome search results page previewed on the right.
  3. 3 Add the field

Click Add Item, then pick your new field from the Field dropdown on the item that appears.

The widget's field list showing Bathrooms, Property Size, Lot Size and Features, plus a newly added Item #12 with an empty Field dropdown, and arrows pointing to the Add Item button.
Not every field type can be searched
Searchable types such as Taxonomy, Number, Text and Price appear in the dropdown. Embed, Gallery and Attachment fields are not listed, because they are not searchable.

Add the field to the single listing page

  1. 1 Open the listing template

Go to MyHome Panel > Templates > Listing Page and edit the active template.

The Templates screen in MyHome Panel with the Listing Page tab open, listing the Carousel, Gallery and Mosaic templates, and an arrow pointing to the Edit button next to the selected Mosaic template.
  2. 2 Add the field to a widget

Choose the Elementor widget that should display the field — Listing Attributes, for example — and add a new item.

Elementor editing the Listing Attributes widget: Item #1 is set to the Bedrooms field with a bed icon, and the preview on the right shows the Overview row reading 5 Bedrooms, 3 Bathrooms, 500 ft2 and Year built: 2016.
