MyHome 4.0 Released—Benefit from Additional Elementor Integration Path

MyHome 4.0 adds Elementor as a second page-builder path alongside WPBakery. Read this before you install or update: it explains what each path offers, what the Elementor path leaves out, and why the choice cannot be reversed later.

4 minute read

We are pleased to announce the release of MyHome 4.0, a significant update that brings a refreshed and modern approach to building real estate websites. This update introduces the powerful Elementor Page Builder for newly created websites based on MyHome, while continuing our commitment to supporting the previous WPBakery version.

What's new in MyHome 4.0

MyHome 4.0 marks a new chapter in our journey: a refreshed design for newly created MyHome websites, and a new "Elementor path" next to the existing one.

  • Elementor Path (New in 2024)
  • WPBakery Path (Since 2017)

Switching page builders is not possible

Starting with MyHome 4.0, there are two independent paths for how MyHome integrates with WordPress, each based on a different page builder. The paths are fundamentally different, and many features available in one are not available in the other.

Your choice of page builder is final
When you install MyHome 4.0 on a new WordPress site, you are asked to choose either WPBakery or Elementor. Because the two paths differ in database structure and in how each builder integrates with WordPress, a site built with one cannot be switched to the other later. Simply removing WPBakery and installing Elementor will not work and will lead to significant site issues.
MyHome Setup screen in WordPress, "Choose Your Page Builder", with "Use Elementor" selected under Elementor (Recommended), an unselected "Use WPBakery Page Builder" option below it, and a Save Changes button.

For websites built on MyHome 1.0–3.x, which were exclusively based on WPBakery, this option will not appear when updating to MyHome 4.0. The system automatically recognises that your site was built with WPBakery, as Elementor was not supported in previous versions.

Why the new demo is built on Elementor

Elementor has become the most popular page builder in the WordPress community thanks to its user-friendly interface, flexibility, and extensive customization options. WPBakery was a great solution for years, but the web development landscape is shifting, and many users prefer Elementor for its simplicity and real-time editing. Introducing Elementor in MyHome 4.0 was driven by the need to give users a more modern, accessible, and powerful tool for building real estate websites.

What happens to the WPBakery version

MyHome 4.0 continues to fully support the WPBakery Page Builder for all users with websites built on MyHome 1.0–3.x. Your current WPBakery-built website will remain functional, and you will continue to receive updates that keep it compatible with new WordPress versions and plugins. Basically, after updating from MyHome 1.0–3.x to MyHome 4.0 you are using MyHome 4.x in its WPBakery variant.

Elementor demos compared with WPBakery demos – benefits and limitations

The Elementor path does not cover the same options the WPBakery path has. The main differences are that the Elementor path does not offer:

  • WPML compatibility
  • Revolution Slider
  • Front-end agent panel
  • The same custom field structure — the Elementor version is more flexible, but in some areas it has fewer options, for example the Price Range field is not available

Support and future updates for both versions

Both WPBakery and Elementor will continue to be supported in future updates of MyHome. Users can expect ongoing compatibility with WordPress and plugin updates, as well as bug fixes and performance improvements for both versions. While new features and demos will primarily focus on Elementor, WPBakery users will not be left behind, and critical updates will continue for that version.

Guidance for existing users

If you are an existing user with a WPBakery-built website, there is no need to worry. Your site will continue to function as usual, and you will receive the updates that keep it running smoothly. If you are satisfied with WPBakery, there is no reason to switch. If you are interested in the functionality and ease of use Elementor offers, consider starting a new project with the Elementor-based demo.

Recommendations for new users

For new users, we highly recommend choosing Elementor as the page builder for your MyHome website. Elementor provides a modern, user-friendly experience with real-time editing, extensive design options, and a fast learning curve. It is the best option for users who want to create a professional real estate website with minimal effort and maximum customization flexibility.

In summary

MyHome 4.0 brings a new and exciting option with Elementor, while still supporting the classic WPBakery version. If you have been using WPBakery, you can continue to do so without any problems. But for new users, or anyone looking for a modern page builder experience, Elementor is the recommended choice.

However, please note that you cannot switch between the two builders once you have started a project, so choose the one that best fits your needs.
