Limiting Google Maps Autocomplete to Specific Countries on Your Website

Restrict the Google Maps address autocomplete in MyHome to as many as five countries, so visitors only get suggestions from the markets your site actually covers.

1 minute read

If your website operates in only a few countries, you can configure Google Maps autocomplete to limit suggestions to a maximum of five countries. By default, autocomplete suggests locations from all countries.

Address autocomplete field with "be" typed into it, showing five suggestions: Berlin, Germany; Bengaluru, Karnataka, India; Belo Horizonte, State of Minas Gerais; Bergamo, Province of Bergamo, Italy; and Benidorm, Spain.
With no restriction set, two typed letters return suggestions from five different countries at once.
  1. 1 Edit the Location field

Go to the MyHome Panel → Custom Fields and edit the Location field.

Custom fields list with draggable rows for Gallery, Attachments and Location — the Location row also shows the key "location" — each row ending in Edit and Delete buttons.
  2. 2 Pick the countries

Under Country Restrictions (Max 5), search for and select the country you want to focus on, such as the United States of America.

Location field settings showing "Country Restrictions (Max 5)" with United States of America already selected and an open list of further countries — Svalbard and Jan Mayen, Sweden, Switzerland, Syrian Arab Republic, Taiwan, Tajikistan, Tanzania — overlapping the settings below it.

Autocomplete will now only suggest results from the United States, or from whichever other countries you selected.
