WordPress favicon / site icon

The small icon in the browser tab is WordPress's site icon, not a MyHome setting. Upload yours in the Customizer and it appears in tabs, bookmarks and the WordPress mobile apps.

1 minute read

The favicon is fully based on WordPress functionality, so you set it in the Customizer rather than in the MyHome Panel.

  1. 1 Open the Customizer

In /wp-admin/, go to Appearance → Customize.

The WordPress admin sidebar with the Appearance menu open and the Customize entry pointed out.
  2. 2 Choose Site Identity

In the Customizer sidebar, click Site Identity.

The Customizer sidebar with Site Identity at the top of the list, above Menus, Widgets, Homepage Settings and Additional CSS.
  3. 3 Select an image and upload it

Under Site Icon, click Select site icon and upload your image.

The Site Identity panel with Logo, Site Title, Tagline and, at the bottom, the Site Icon section with a Select site icon button.
  4. 4 Click Publish

Publish the change and the icon starts showing in the browser tab.

The Site Identity panel after uploading, showing a browser-tab preview and the uploaded icon, with an arrow pointing at the Publish button.
Use a square image
WordPress asks for a square site icon of at least 512 × 512 pixels.
